Cystic acne and stress

Regarding cystic acne, Quoting a common experiance, When You are under stress because of your exams, your job or just juggling your everyday activities. And you find acne delevoped... Was the outbreak caused by stress? Until now, scientists had no evidence saying yes to the question..

Even though Stress and cystic Acne was a very crazy hypothesis for scientists till now, Very recently German researchers had found a major indication that stress and cystic acne, as well as other skin conditions, are vitaly linked.

Everything connected to central nervous system could have something to do with skin.Acne forms when oily sebum secretions from the sebaceous glands beneath the skin come plugging up the pores.. But what it that causes the oil to form in the first place? The German researchers found that a stress hormone called corticotropin:-releasing hormone (CRH) is released in the sebaceous gland -- producing oily skin, which sets the stage for acne when you or me is stressed. At this point it's difficult to say if stress actually causes the acne or just exacerbates the condition. But a sure link is found.

Most scientists belive stress aggravates acne. But a lot of well-known dermatologists refuse to believe it still. They believe in tough situations there's an increase in testosterone and androgens - male hormones -- and the increase in oil accounts for acne.

It is "SWAT" -- stress, worry, anxiety and tension -- can aggravate acne.

The German researchers say they also have evidence from studies in mice that the CRH contributes to the hair loss seen in male pattern baldness. Scientists are coming close to understanding the mechanism that makes hair fall out. They're finding the skin can regulate normal and abnormal situations more than they thought before, so what's happening in the central nervous system affects the skin.

Stress management

You can practice stress management techniques to keep stress related acne in check, and make sure to wash your face regularly as well. I also recommend exfoliating and even using a home micro-dermabrasion kit, which removes the top layer of skin and stimulates fresh, new skin to grow, but I'm not a dermatologist, so that recommendation is only a lay opinion...

Stress management is the obvious choice for increased health as well as clearer skin. This Stress Reliever Personality Test can help you to find stress relievers that fit best with your personality and lifestyle.

Although stress may have a small factor in acne, acne is a condition caused by an overabundance of oil in the skin. There are 3 common types of acne:non inflammatory acne, inflammatory acne, and look-alike acne. All are treatable with the right acne products.

I believe 100% that stress, and a severe period of anxiety can most certainly aggravate acne.

I was 17, acne was never severe, very mild, then all of a sudden within one month had terrible cystic acne all over my jaw line. Do not wait to go to a dermatologist. I thought it would clear with my normal OTC treatments, the cyst were inflamed, big, swollen, and very painful, and i couldn't keep from touching and picking.

Happened immediately following the end of a 2 yr relationship, during the time of deciding my final college plans, graduating from high school, and during my worst bought of anxiety and depression ive ever experienced.

Finally got on antibiotics and Ziana/Duac creams, now need to heal some red scars!

Stress can cause cystic acne! From personal experience, I went through a bout of depression and anxiety and during this time I had the worst cystic acne breakout I have ever had in my life. The best thing you can do to cure your cystic acne is to evaluate what is happening in your life and if you are feeling truly anxious or depressed then make a change.

I was very stressed working with this musician who had narcissistic personality disorder so I was always in a state of worry/anxiety and I started to get all kinds of physical ailments, including horrible cystic acne.

Dermatologists made out that it was oil glands on the outside of the face (the sebum clogging the pores) and that I shouldn't use any moisturizer on the face.

This was complete bull. The acne was caused by what was going on inside my body not on the surface. (I also had irritable bowel syndrom: constipation and yeast infections and I think it all contributed to the acne. It had nothing to do with using moisturizers. I've eliminated a lot of these internal problems/stress, and my skin is now perfect. I can put coconut oil on my face, heavy moisturizers, and don't break out at all, so it clearly wasn't what I was putting on my face that was the problem.
